Diane Tucker

EJI won the release of Diane Tucker, an intellectually disabled woman who was wrongly convicted and sent to prison for a murder that never took place. Ms. Tucker and her sister, Victoria Banks, were convicted of killing a baby allegedly born to Ms. Banks, a baby she denied ever having. Medical evidence confirmed that Ms. Banks never had a child. Diane Tucker, Ms. Banks, and Ms. Banks’ husband were convicted and imprisoned because their poverty and intellectual disabilities prevented them from defending themselves
